Alessia Hughes joined DBMI after working as a Technical and Grant Writer at the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA), where she wrote dozens of grant applications to support various MBTA train, bus, Commuter Rail, station improvement, and research projects across eastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Her successful grant applications awarded the MBTA tens of millions of dollars over two and a half years.
Alessia also has creative writing, paralegal, and educational experience after her completion of a Bachelor's Degree in English Literature from Loyola University Maryland. Her experience in multiple fields has provided her with a variety of skills that she has found ways to incorporate into each of her new roles. Alessia has worked to build a career that enhances her skills and keeps her challenged. She's excited to provide grants management support to DBMI's research endeavors.
