Junhan Zhao is a Research Fellow and “apprentice” at Yu Lab, where he is working on developing explainable AI models in pathology. Zhao was a Bilsland Fellowship awardee and a lecturer for the undergraduate core course "interactive data visualization " at Purdue University, where he earned his Ph.D. for his work on interpretable machine learning and visualization. During his Ph.D. study, he also stayed close to the industry. He shares multiple patents that have been deployed to help ALS community and boost smart factory development. Prior to his doctoral journey, he completed his engineering training and obtained degrees with distinction at Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Cornell University. He received his masters of science in biostatistics from Harvard University.
