Raheel Sayeed

Raheel Sayeed, M.B.,B.S.

Dr. Raheel Sayeed is a physician informatics researcher, with focus on personalized health information technologies and their inherent role in clinical decision making. He completed his medical education in India and later a post-doctoral fellowship at Computational Health Informatics Program at Boston Children’s Hospital. Sayeed designed and developed the SMART Markers framework that integrates patient generated health data (PGHD)—such as patient-reported outcomes, social determinants of health (SDOH), and device sensor data—with routine care, using, solely, interoperable health standards. In the process, he is contributing to open health standards such as HL7 FHIR, Argonaut and SMART Health IT.

With Isaac Kohane, Sayeed leads the People Heart Study, a digital mHealth research initiative to help understand ground realities of people’s access to their own health data and to determine whether this access sufficiently empowers them with validated, authoritative and actionable health information that shared decisions with their doctors are fostered. As a first, this study is entirely built on and deployed with interoperable FHIR technologies.
